MHIMA Awards in 2021

I am very excited to have been nominated for Marvin Hamlisch International Music Awards 2020-2021 as a composer in the classical category (emerging division). The challenge and the source of inspiration for the classical category composers was ‘Bacchus’, the animation film, created by a talented crew of young artists from Denmark. The offered footage was muted, and the contestants were asked to express in music what in the film moved them most, be it the theme itself, or the mood, or any of the characters. The score had to be not longer than 6 minutes. You can read more about this film here.

I was definitely touched by the theme of  the film. The main character is under her very monotone and boring, quite identical days of work, and then she deals with her loneliness in a crowd of people in the evenings – till she meets a mystical figure, who shows her a secret door to the world of passion. This became the theme of my piece Tedious Days, Passionate Dreams, which was realized with VSL sample libraries in Nuendo DAW.
